Updates

• We simplified Foleon Analytics and added an option to export as a PDF
  We made several changes to texts, the user interface, and data points to make Foleon Analytics easier to understand. Additionally, we added an option to download a report as a PDF for sharing purposes. Learn more about Foleon Analytics.
• Multiple hosting improvements
  A hosting migration of live Foleon Docs came with multiple impact improvements. Read more in our Help Center.

• We resolved multiple bugs related to creating, updating, or duplicating templates.
• We fixed an issue where users would not be able to hide scroll bars inside embed elements. This is only for the preview version and will be implemented for live Foleon Docs later.

• We squashed a bug where users would not be prompted with an error message when uploading PDF files larger than 100MB.

• We improved the Foleon Doc previewer
  We improved the Foleon Doc previewer. This under-the-hood upgrade improves loading times and performance for the preview versions of your Foleon Docs. Learn more in our Help Center.
• Simplified template statuses
  We’ve simplified the status you can set for templates. You can now set them as Draft or Public. When setting a template to Public, it will be available to use in the editor. When it’s on Draft, it’s not available for use and will only be visible in the Templates overview on the dashboard.
• Reporting has been renamed
  We’ve renamed reports to Foleon Analytics. This is only a name change; nothing else has changed.

• We resolved an issue where HubSpot tracking would not work for customers that opted to host their HubSpot data in the European Union.
• We fixed a bug where See live version would open in the same browser tab instead of a new one.

• Master the dashboard with new product tours
  We’ve added new tours that take you through the core functionality of the dashboard. You can access them via the Help dropdown in the menu on the left-hand side.

• When uploading media larger than 1.2MB, users would sometimes see an incorrect error message saying we didn’t accept the file type. This has now been fixed.
• Email addresses entered in the one-time password field are no longer case sensitive.

  Following up on the media library improvements from our latest release, we’ve made minor additional aesthetic changes to the interface.

Fixes

• We squashed a bug where multiple pages within a Foleon Doc could have the same alias. On top of this, we've also ensured that project aliases are unique, as well as Foleon Doc aliases within the same project.
• We fixed a bug where Foleon Docs connected to an external consent management platform would sometimes still track analytics even if the reader didn't give permission.
• We resolved an issue for Foleon Docs with Marketo forms where click events and pageviews would still be registered in Marketo even if the reader didn't give permission.

  Admin users can now manage subscription details from the dashboard (under Account > Subscription). You can see what plan you’re on and when it renews, update account and billing information, and access billing history in just a few clicks.

• Get creative with background colors and rounded corners
  We've added more flexibility for applying background colors to content elements. You can now set the rounding of each corner individually, giving you more creative freedom.
• Choose a primary Foleon Doc
  Next to that, we’ve improved the interface for choosing a primary Foleon Doc. Here’s what changed:
  • When choosing a primary Foleon Doc, you no longer need to republish it for the change to take effect.
  • We moved the primary Foleon Doc setting from the project settings to the context menu of Foleon Docs (the three dots).

• We resolved an issue where choosing a primary Foleon Doc would not function correctly.
• We squashed a bug where anchor links would not work on small screen resolutions in some situations.

  Page scroll buttons are used as visual cues to show your audience how to move through pages. You can now choose to keep it visible until visitors reach the bottom of a page, instead of it only appearing at the top of your page.

Updates

• Improve navigation with page scroll buttons
  Page scroll buttons are used as visual cues to show your audience how to move through pages. You can now style these centrally from the Theme settings, with more styling options, including choosing from a set of icons (or using a custom one), applying hover states, and selecting the button’s positioning.
• Enhance privacy with new cookie consent options
  In accordance with the GDPR, you can now allow your audience to update their cookie preferences at any time by linking any button or text to the Foleon cookie consent modal. Learn more.

• We squashed a bug that caused buttons in the cookie consent modal to inherit styling from the buttons in the Theme.
• We resolved an issue where using negative spacings could be applied for certain content elements.

• Increase interactivity with hover states
  You can now add visual effects to buttons and hotspots when readers move their mouse cursor over them. For example, you can make them change color, add a subtle border or shadow, and much more. You’ll find the new options in the Hover section of the button and hotspot settings and can set this up for individual elements or style them all at once via your Theme settings.

• We squashed a bug where the social share element for Facebook would always share the current URL even when an alternative URL was set.
• We resolved an issue where validation messages for certain types of form fields would display incorrectly.

  We've improved the consistency and clarity of Foleon Doc settings. Namely, each toggle setting now clearly states what to expect when you enable it (by toggling it on) or disable it (by toggling it off) depending on its default state.

• We resolved an issue where hotspots would reposition when changing view modes.

  On top of the ability to use anchor linking for buttons, you can now create anchored text links! In other words, you can now create text links that will jump to a specific block. Here’s what's new in this release.

New features

To make it easier to keep your Foleon content on-brand, we’ve added more options to the Theme panel. Here’s what’s new:

• More options for Buttons
  You can now create two individual Button designs and easily switch between them when adding buttons to your content. Get creative!
• Set a default design for Hotspots and Dividers
  Just like for other content elements, you can now set default designs for Hotspots and Dividers. This makes it easier to stay on-brand.
• Choose a font style for the navigation bar
  By popular demand, you can now choose a font style for the navigation bar.

Updates

• Along with the new features above, we've improved the Theme panel's user interface to provide a better overview of the different options and tools available for use.
• When working in the editor, you can now delete templates to free up space for new ones (instead of only via the dashboard's Templates area).
• We’ve made several improvements related to accessibility:
  • When the keyboard focus is on the hamburger icon in the navigation bar, you can now scroll up and down the page using the arrow keys.
  • When you open an overlay, the page title updates to the overlay name and can also be read aloud using assistive technology.
  • When viewing an overlay, you can now scroll up and down using the arrow keys.

• Use Foleon for more content types
  We’ve made it easier to use Foleon for quickly creating single page resources like landing pages, datasheets, or microsites. Next to disabling the navigation entirely, you can now hide the following menu items individually: hamburger icon, page numbers, and navigation arrows.

• We squashed a bug that prevented users from using Unsplash images twice in a row.
• We resolved an issue with not being able to rename template categories.
• We fixed a bug that caused publications to crash when opening the hamburger menu twice when using Safari.

• Moving content between teams
  If you have the Team Management add-on, you can now copy publications from one team to another. This was our most requested feature for teams so we're really happy to make this available.
• Improvements for the Publisher user role
  Users with the Publisher role can now save templates, this wasn’t possible before. See our Help Center article for more information on user roles.
• Publications now load faster across the world
  With our improved CDN, Foleon content will now load faster across the world. This speed increase is most noticeable in the Americas and Australia.

• We fixed a bug where social platform icons in the navigation bar would prevent you from opening settings of certain columns.
• We resolved an issue with changing the font size of paragraph text and list items in tablet and mobile.
• We fixed an issue where text that was aligned to the bottom would jump up and down when hovered over.

• Scale content creation with templates
  In addition to saving content blocks, you can now save complete pages and overlays as templates too. Need a refresher on how templates work? Read the blog or watch how one of our chief designers, Vincent, uses templates to speed up his work.

• New user role: Author
  We’re gradually rolling out a new user role called Author. As the name implies, authors are only allowed to change texts and can’t make any design changes. If you’re interested in this, please contact your Customer Success Manager or success@foleon.com.

Updates to existing features

• Improved UI for font selection
  When selecting a font, you’ll notice we’ve launched some minor UI improvements. The active font is now highlighted with a checkmark and we’ve more clearly separated custom fonts from the default ones.
• Attribution for Foleon lead gen forms
  Just like regular forms, Foleon lead gen forms now also capture attribution information (UTM code or referring website) to give you more insights into where leads originated from. This information is displayed in form notification emails and is also available in form exports and Zapier.
• Improved UX for creating publications from scratch
  When creating a publication from scratch, you’ll now be able to start with a page template instead of landing on an empty canvas.

Fixes

• We squashed a bug that caused margins and paddings to not display properly.
• We fixed a bug where form elements would disappear after saving it.
• The labels of form fields are now connected to the Paragraph style in the Theme settings.

  Foleon forms will now capture attribution information (UTM code or referring website) to give you more insights into where form submissions originated from. This information displays in form notification emails and is also available in form exports and Zapier.

• Important changes to search engine access

• Embedded content can now change height dynamically
  We’ve introduced new functionality to let the height of embeds be determined by the content that’s being embedded, instead of it being a fixed height.
• Cookie consent has been updated for our new integrations
  We’ve connected the new tracking features with our existing cookie consent functionality. If visitors do not accept retargeting cookies, their activity will not be tracked in HubSpot, Salesforce Pardot, or Marketo.

• We fixed a bug that caused the border color of checkboxes in forms to display incorrectly in the preview of a publication.
• We resolved an issue with incorrect font sizes in the navigation bar.

  We’ve launched one of our most requested features: anchor linking! In other words, you can now create links that will jump to a specific block (not available for text links yet). Anchored blocks have their own unique URL, meaning you can share links that will open your publication and immediately jump to a specific block.

Updates to existing features

• Keyboard shortcuts for working with text
  We’ve added useful shortcuts for applying styling to text. Additionally, we now display tooltips for the different styling options to let you know what they do. A shortcut for creating text links will follow shortly.
• Improved UI for skipping a lead generation gate
  We’ve changed the way readers can skip a lead generation gate. Previously, when this feature was enabled, readers would see a small cross icon in the top right which has now been replaced with a “Skip and continue” text link below the gating form.

• We squashed a bug that displayed page navigation arrows incorrectly if there was no previous or next page.
• We resolved an issue with social media icons not displaying in the navigation bar.
• We fixed an issue where resizing a duplicated image would also resize the original one.

• Moving columns to another block
  You can now move columns to any other block! Previously, you could only move them within the same block. Please note that you can only move columns to other blocks that already have at least 1 column.

• New tools for working with text
  We’ve expanded the text editing toolbar with new options for using superscript, hyphenate, and non-breaking-spaces. Additionally, you can now easily exit a text element using the ESC key.
• Improvements to cookie consent
  We’ve made some changes to our cookie consent feature. Analytics cookies are now no longer required and can be disabled by readers.
• Better compatibility with Consent Management Platforms
  Foleon is now better compatible with CMPs. If you’re using third-party cookie banners and would like to deploy those for Foleon, please contact our support team via support@foleon.com.

• We squashed a bug that skewed Google Analytics data for the entry page of visitors.
• We resolved an issue with being unable to access the settings of blocks or columns that were below a block that was hidden.
• We fixed an issue that prevented animations on forms from working properly.

  You can now set an alternative URL for social sharing elements in your publication.
• Switch between pages using the navigation arrows
  When working in the editor, you can now easily navigate between pages using the navigation arrows in the bottom right—just like you would in your publication itself.

  We’ve made some improvements to how the lead generation gate is displayed in the pages overview in the editor.

• We’ve squashed a bug that caused hotspots to be positioned incorrectly in the preview when setting an alternative image in the mobile viewport.

We’re super excited to announce one of the biggest updates to the Foleon editor, ever. Here’s what’s new:

General

• A complete technical overhaul makes Foleon faster than ever. You’ll notice increased speed with anything you do in the editor, from adding or rearranging content to accessing your settings or switching between pages.
• We’ve improved the publishing interface with a clearer distinction between publishing a publication for the first time and simply republishing it, easy access to your project’s settings, and a handy checklist to review your publication before you hit the Publish button.
• We’ve made it easier to see what content is and isn’t hidden on certain viewports.

Media library

• A new button has been added that allows you to access the Media library directly.
• It’s now easier to upload media by simply dragging and dropping it.
• In addition, you can now easily link buttons to a document in your library. We’re adding this functionality for text links soon as well.

Setting panels

• When working with Column backgrounds, you can now set a background focus (this was already possible for Block backgrounds).
• We’ve improved the interface of numeric input fields with arrow buttons for increasing or decreasing its value.
• All publishing settings have been moved from the editor to the dashboard, you can find them under the Project settings.

Form builder

• We’ve redesigned the form builder to make it easier to create new forms or edit existing ones.
• You can now add content elements (titles, paragraphs, or dividers) to a form through the form builder modal.

• Keyboard accessibility improvements
• We’ve introduced a so-called keyboard focus indicator that highlights what element is selected when your tabbing through a publication. We also made sure all interactive elements like buttons, forms, toggles, hotspots, etc. can be selected and controlled with a keyboard.
• We’ve optimized the way readers can tab through publications, it will now always start with the navigation bar and continue with the content of the page — from the top left to the bottom right.
• Optimizations for screen readers
• Hotspots now provide more information to screen readers about what they are and what they do.

• Color contrasting improvements
• We improved the default colors for the access control pages username & password and whitelist by email.

  • Instead of regular forms and lead generation forms having the same event category, we’ve now separated these into 2 event categories: Forms and Lead Forms to make it easier for you to separate them in your Analytics.
  • We’ve added a new event action called Show for lead generation forms, this tells you how many readers saw it. Cross reference this with the Submit success event action to calculate the drop-off rate of your lead generation form.

• Tools for overlay management
  Similar to pages, you now have a complete overview of your overlays. You’ll find it by clicking on the Pages button in the editor. This is part of the new collection of features for creating, duplicating, and removing overlays.
  
  Important: the old method of duplicating overlays by cloning the button they were connected to will no longer work. From now on, you can only duplicate overlays via the new overview. Also, overlays that were not in use (i.e. not linked) are no longer available.

• Publication groups have been renamed to projects

• Paddings have been changed to scale down percentually based on the size of the screen. This means that instead of paddings staying the exact same size across screen sizes, they now scale down based on the size of your screen thus resulting into better (automated) responsiveness.
• You now have extra control over borders by being able to set it for each individual side (top, bottom, left, or right) instead of only being able to add a border that would automatically be displayed on all sides.

Here’s what we released in this version.

New features

• A new animation! We’re introducing the Reveal animation for Titles and Images. Make you content stand out even more.
• Visibility settings. You can now also hide content on desktop, while still showing it on tablet or mobile. This gives you a lot more creative freedom. You can access it via Content's settings > Visibility.

Updates to existing features

• We've expanded the functionality of our Media Library. You can now upload files like PDFs, Word documents, Excel files, and more.
• You can now manage overlays properly! In the page overview menu, you’ll see all your overlays and can open and edit them from there.
• You now have more creative freedom by being able to make the corners of images and text elements rounded.

• Background image positioning. You can now lock the background image to ensure that a specific area of the image will always be visible throughout different screen sizes.
